Submission Guidelines

Researchers & practitioners from the domains of architecture, engineering, urban planning, building science, landscape design, computer science, philosophy, psychology, sociology, economy, and other relevant disciplines who can contribute to the discussion are invited.

We invite submissions that present cutting edge, original research that focuses on one of the following tracks:

  • Sustainable Buildings (energy efficient buildings, health and wellbeing, material technology, vernacular and refurbishment)

  • Resources (renewable energies, technologies, circular economy, nature based solutions, urban metabolism)

  • Resilient and Extreme Design (adaptation, self-sufficiency, relief, urban climate, climate change, vulnerability, risk management)

  • Sustainable communities (urban climate, outdoor comfort, mobility, walkability, planning and policies, culture and society, future city visions, green infrastructure)

  • Analysis and methods (simulation and design tools, surveying and monitoring methods)

  • Education, awareness and dissemination (architectural training for sustainability, professional development, sustainable initiatives and environmental activism)

Notes:

  1. By submitting an abstract authors agree that if their paper is selected, at least one of the authors will attend the PLEA 2020 Conference.

  2. Authors must ensure that the submitted paper is their original work, which has not been previously published.

  3. All submissions must follow the template formats provided. All submitted papers are subject to strict blind peer review process. Authors should not write their names in the uploaded contribution.

  4. Submission not complying with the publications instructions or requiring corrections in response to comments by the Technical reviewers must be corrected and approved before publication.

  5. All items should be submitted via the online submission system.

  6. Authors may submit more than one paper as the first author and participate as a co-author on an unlimited number of extended abstracts. (Remark: One registration only allows for one paper to be presented and each paper requires a registration to be included)

  7. The inclusion of trade names/brand names is not allowed in the abstract.

  8. The admitted papers will be published in the book of proceedings which will be distributed during the Conference.

  9. Should the abstract/paper be selected for presentation, the authors, represented by the submitting author will assigns the organisers of PLEA 2020 all rights under copyright that may exist in and to the work, including the rights to use, distribute, publish, record, broadcast, reproduce and archive the work.

  10. Published papers may be indexed by Scopus / Web of Science.
